Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto are the Newgiza Premier Padel P2 2026 champions after defeating Agustín Stupaczuk and Momo Yanguas 6-4, 6-1 on Saturday, April 18 at the Newgiza Sports Club in Cairo, Egypt. The victory, delivered with seven consecutive games from 4-4 in the first set, hands Galán and Chingotto the lead in the 2026 Race standings for the first time this season. On the women’s side, Bea González and Paula Josemaría defeated Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 to claim their second consecutive title of the year.

Men’s Final: Seven Straight Games Seal the Title

The men’s final was level through the opening stages. At 4-4 in the first set, Galán and Chingotto shifted gears and took seven consecutive games, closing the set 6-4 and sweeping the second 6-1. Stupaczuk and Yanguas did not win another game from that point forward.

The run of seven consecutive games encapsulates how thoroughly Galán and Chingotto controlled the second half of the match. Neither player in the opposing pair could find the form they had shown during the week — most notably in a dominant semifinal performance that suggested they were peaking at the right moment.

Galán and Chingotto dropped zero sets across the entire tournament, completing the week without a single dropped set. This is their third title of the 2026 season, following a victory earlier in the year and their win at Miami P1 2026.

Women’s Final: González and Josemaría Win a Three-Set Battle

The women’s final required three sets and a composed response after losing the second. González and Josemaría took the opening set 6-4, establishing early control against the top-seeded pair. Brea and Triay — the defending favorites and number one seeds — leveled with a 7-5 second set to force a deciding set.

In the third, González and Josemaría returned to the level that had won them the first and closed out 6-4, taking the title and confirming their status as the most consistent force in the women’s circuit in 2026.

This was the third consecutive final between these two pairs in the current season — a rivalry that has become the defining story of the women’s draw. González and Josemaría also beat Brea and Triay in the Miami P1 2026 final, again in three sets. In both finals, they absorbed a dropped set and recovered to win.

Race 2026: Galán and Chingotto Move to the Top

With Coello and Tapia absent from Newgiza — a strategic rest decision ahead of Brussels — Galán and Chingotto entered the week trailing in the Race standings and exit it as leaders.

Coello and Tapia entered the week with a lead of 270 points in the Race. By not competing in Cairo while Galán and Chingotto claimed maximum points as champions, the standings have flipped. It is the first time in 2026 that Galán and Chingotto sit at the top of the Race.

What Comes Next: Brussels and the Return of the Number Ones

The Premier Padel circuit continues immediately with the Lotto Brussels Premier Padel P2 by CBC, running from April 19 to 26 in Belgium. Coello and Tapia return to competition after their week off, making Brussels the first event since Miami P1 where the top four men’s pairs will compete together.

The Race lead has changed hands for the first time in 2026. Coello and Tapia have their opportunity to respond within 24 hours of this result.
